It is a fact that most fun outdoor adventures are the ones you go on with your friends. But, exploring the outside world with you four-legged best friend takes the fun and enjoyment up for a notch.

What can’t be good about that? You have your best friend by your side, a protector and the greatest companion you could wish for.

So, if you’re an outdoor junkie who wants to take his buddy on adventures, here is a list of dog breeds you could easily explore the outside world with.

 

1. German Shepherd

 

It’s great to explore with this dog since they are known to be one of the most active and friendly. The Labrador loves the waters, he is athletic, playful, and enjoys every moment spent in outdoors. This breed is also known to be one of the smartest, which means they can tackle more complicated situations in the wilderness.

Filled with energy and enthusiasm for running around, this breed can tackle many obstacles because he’s so agile. You can take him on hiking, jogging, and even rock climbing since he loves a good challenge. Even though the Terrier is short and can’t do high leaps, he is so smart that he will find a way to climb any obstacle in front of him.

4. Collie

 

How do you think Lassie managed to find her way home? It’s because she’s one of the most intelligent dogs breed out there. Every type of “collie” breed is very active, with great stamina and agility, and perfect instincts in the wild. The Collie is the best outdoor companion when it comes to long and rough routes when you have to jump over rocks and rivers.

Having thick heavy coats allows the Husky to have high endurance in cold and snowy weather. So if you want to go on winter adventures, this is the breed for you.

 

These guys love to take long hikes, camping trips, trail runs, and all that in tough weather conditions. They want to be in charge and pull their weight (literally), so loading them with some gear will be a blast for them.

The Australian Shepherd is very agile, smart, strong and a skilled obedience breed. Being one of the best herding breeds means that these dogs love to run around and take charge. They have a lot of energy and can run, hike, and climb for many hours straight. With his thick coat, he is a great companion for mountains and colder weather.
So, if you want to spend a lot of time in the wilds, this breed is the right for you.

7. Standard Poodle

 

Many people have these dogs for their beautiful and shiny coat and their grace. But what you probably didn’t know, apart from their beauty, these dogs are one of the most intelligent breeds. Being so smart and quick to learn, they are capable of navigating over difficult obstacles and different terrains. The Poodle is a very quick and gracious runner, and he will easily keep up with your pace.

8. Vizsla

 

This breed is very athletic, active, and light on its feet. They are full of energy, and agility and can quickly find a path between trees in the forest. Because they have short fir they are only suitable for warmer conditions. The Vizslas are very faithful to their master, and they will be by your side the whole trip.

9. Australian Kelpie

 

Being, sort of, the cousin of the Australian Shepherd, the Kelpie has the brains and personality of his cousin, but the body of the German Shepherd. This breed is highly intelligent, great when it comes to agility, and always ready for a challenge. They are ideal for long runs or for riding the board on the ocean waves.

10. German Pointer

 

Bred for hunting and retrieving, these dogs love to run and run freely in the outdoors. They are very reliable, energized, active, and can run for many hours straight. These dogs are independent and obedient at the same time. So, if it gets lost in the wild, this dog will easily find its ways back to you.
