Thrill seekers: 7 most extreme activities you can try
If you enjoy the adrenaline rush that comes with the likes of skiing, running or anything that really gets your heart going, you may want to up your game a little bit. There are extreme activities out there just waiting for you to try, if you know where to look. We have a list of some of the most hair-raising thrill rides that you can try out.
1. Mountaineering
Let’s start off the list with something more familiar, mountaineering, which has been around longer than many of the other things on this list. As long as there have been mountains, there have been people climbing them. Mountaineering is harder than hiking by a long shot. Depending on the mountain that you are venturing on as well as the weather and time of year, mountaineering can quickly turn into a life or death situation if you are not careful.
2. Hang Gliding
Have you ever dreamed of soaring like a bird? Hang gliding is the human equivalent of flying like a bird. Of course, the danger with it is that you are often thousands of feet in the air, so if something goes wrong, it is a long way down to the ground. Thankfully, hang gliding is safer than it ever has been before with the improvements in technology and engineering. With a little training, you too can soar in the air on a sunny day.
3. Cliff Jumping
Cliff jumping can be terrifying and amazing at the same time. You will need to make sure that you are an active swimmer and that the area that you are jumping into is a safe place to dive into. You can seriously injure yourself if you jump into a place where the water is too shallow, especially if you are jumping from hundreds of feet in the air.
4. Parascending
This one requires a friend with a boat so you can be pulled by it up into the air. Parascending will get the wind in your hair, give you the thrill of adrenaline, all before the boat stops and you go crashing into the water below. The amount of air time that you get depends on how long the boat can travel fast enough to keep you in the air.
5. Bouldering
You should start off with climbing in a gym which will help you to build up your arm strength and the basic skills involved in the sport, but once you have mastered that and become strong enough, you can branch out to actually bouldering on a rock, where you are literally climbing rocks with your hands. How dangerous it is depends on where you are climbing and whether what you are attempting matches your skill level.
6. Skydiving
If you have wondered what it would be like to jump out of an airplane, skydiving will give you the answer. Jumping out of a moving plane with a parachute on from a mile in the air is going to give you an intense rush as you plummet down towards the Earth. You can jump in tandem with instructors as well, making sure that your first time goes well and is as safe as possible.
7. Base Jumping
Base jumping is one of the craziest activities that you could participate in. You hook a parachute on your back and then hurl yourself off buildings, cliffs, or any other high point. You need to make sure that you are in a safe and legal place to do it, but it is without a doubt one of the scariest things that you can do. This bucket list item will definitely top the list of crazy thrills out there.
