While outdoor adventuring is amazing and is one of the best things you can do, it really is made easier if you have the means to get yourself to your adventures. Borrowing a friend’s truck or SUV can help, but if you’re in the market for your own outdoor ride, we have some tips for finding the perfect car for you.
There are so many car options out there that you need to be sure that you are getting the best vehicle for your needs.
Fittingly named after the wild ‘outback’ regions of Australia, this SUV is an ideal family car, providing enough seats for a couple of children, while still giving you a hatchback for gear. Most also come with a luggage rack on the top so you can tie down your bags or skis that you can’t fit inside the car itself.
The Outback is an all-wheel drive car, giving you a balance between being a regular town car, as well as an all-weather car that can take your family through many different types of challenging environment.
Bigger than the Outback, the 4Runner is designed for more of the rough road. It is small enough to drive easily through the city, but it is built to cope with rough and tumble mountain conditions.
With an option for 4-wheel drive, the 4Runner will keep you safe on the snow and ice, while also being able to take you off road and over cross country terrain. The 4Runner also has a hatch in the back for extra room, making it a great car to take on camping trips.
Larger than a 4Runner, the Tahoe is ideal for larger families or groups headed out into the wild. Built like a truck, the Tahoe has a powerful engine and offers the essential 4-wheel drive that will take you over hills, through mud, over ice, and through the snow.
If you do not have a large group going with you, the Tahoe offers a lot of room for camping and hiking gear, as well as the luggage rack on the top which works well for skis.
The biggest advantage of the F-150 is that it handles like a smaller car. With an excellent turning radius and smooth ride, it’s easy to forget you are driving an impressive workhorse. Because of its level of comfort, it can be used for more than just outdoor adventures, but don’t forget its amazing assets as a truck.
From hauling boats to towing campers, the F-150 is powerful enough to use for more than mud plugging. It should also be noted that the bed of the F-150 is extra durable, meaning it does not get banged up during hauls.
Speaking of powerful trucks, there is little out there that can come close to the power of the Ram 1500. A perfect all-round pickup, the Ram has been one of the most popular trucks in the United States for many years. They released a model, however, called the Ram 1500 Outdoorsman, made with people who like to hunt, fish, and camp in mind. The Ram easily tows campers, boats, or trailers with so little effort, you could forget it is on the back.
There are many more outdoor-friendly vehicles on the market, but just make sure that you test drive the car that you think makes the most sense for your outdoor needs. Once you have found one, go on and pack up the family and your gear and get out there to have some fun.
