8 Outdoor Activities You Need To Do This Spring

During the cold winter, I tend to forget about sports activities and prefer staying in the warm comfort of my home. But, after few months of couch sitting and tv watching, I feel like it’s time to shake myself off and get energized again. With the warm and sunny weather, it is time to get out and do some fun outdoor activities.

Spring is finally here! It is time to forget the cold and often harsh winter and to look forward to warm and sunny days. With blossoms on the trees, the fresh warm breeze, and the sound of buzzing bees waking you up from your winter sleep get out and seize the day.

So, if you are like me, and you want to get active again, here’s list of spring sports and activities you can get stuck into.

Hiking

Of course, hiking is first on the list. After a long winter, it is finally time to visit the mountains and hills for a spring adventure. Do some planning. Pack your sack and go out to visit the familiar trails, or why not trying few new ones. You could go alone, with your friends or family, or just join an organized hike with a local group.

I just went for a hike a few days ago, and I had a great time with my friends. The fresh air and the calming sound of the trees were just what we needed to boost our energy and spirit.

Climbing

If you are up for something more adventurous and maybe a little more dangerous, why not trying some mountain climbing. Tie on your boots, strap on your ropes, and conquer your next challenge.

Although rock climbing can be a dangerous and physically demanding activity, you will benefit a lot from the exercise while doing it. And no matter where you climb, when you get to the top you will feel like you’ve conquered the world. And who doesn’t love that feeling?

Rafting

The spring weather brings warmer and often faster waters, which you can use for some “wet” activities. Convince your friends, and go out for some extreme waters sports, you will get an adrenaline boost and lift your spirits.

Joining a rafting team would be a great idea as well. Find a local group, and experience the thrill and energy of navigating in rough waters.

Surfing

With the good combination of warming water and good swells, spring is a particularly great season to go surfing, why not taking the board out of the garage and hit the beach. If the waves are not strong enough, why not using the opportunity to just hang out on the beach and practice your swimming. Go with your family of friends, and have a lovely sunny day by the sea.

Paragliding

If you are up for some extreme sports and aircraft adventure, paragliding is the thing you should do. Use the warm, sunny weather, and the soft winds of the mountain, and go and try some paragliding.

This sport is adventurous, recreational and competitive, you can do it alone, with friends, or with an instructor. Either way, you will have a great time.

Just strap on your gear and enjoy viewing the beauty of nature from another angle.

Canyoning

If you don’t mind getting wet for some adventure and adrenaline, this is the activity for you. Canyoning is an extreme sport that combines many activities at once.

While experiencing the laws of nature, you will do some walking, hiking, scrambling, jumping, climbing, and swimming. It’s a great way to start off the season and to get back in shape.

Camping

If you don’t want to do something extreme and demanding, but you still want to spend time in the outdoors, then you should go camping. And spring is the perfect season to do it, when the weather isn’t too cold, nor too hot. Just pack your equipment, food, and clothes, and head out for few days in the wild.
While you’re there, you could do some easy outdoor activities, like:

  • Fishing
  • Hiking
  • Running
  • Paddling
  • etc.

Picnic

If you don’t have the time or the will to spend a whole day or more outside, just go to the local park for an afternoon picnic. Pack a basket with your lunch, and a blanket to sit on, and you’re good to go.

Go to the park with your friends and family, or do it alone and spend few hours reading a book in the sun. If there are enough people, you could play some sports as well, like:

  • Baseball
  • Tennis
  • Soccer
  • Frisbee
  • Volleyball
  • etc.

So, don’t just sit there, watching the beautiful weather through the window. Go out, explore nature, capture the wonders of it, and enjoy a perfect day in our magnificent and beautiful spring.
