One of the best places to camp in Virginia is the American Heritage RV Park. Located around the famous city of Williamsburg, this historic area gives the whole family something to do and see. This area is not only for camping but also for adventure.

From theme parks to historic battlefields, options abound for each member of the family. Enjoy the championship golf courses or drive to explore a public park that spans more than 8,000 acres.

Many RV parks get the coveted 5W Woodall rating on recreation, which means you can combine health and wellness with history, culture, and nature. You can immerse yourself in rich history when you explore Colonial Williamsburg.

With more than 8,000 acres, you can do anything on American Heritage RV Park from hiking, fishing, or playing golf to visiting historical battlefields.

The 180-acre Central Colonial KOA earned a 5W rating on Woodall’s recreation for services such as a jumping pillow, two heated pools, and sports such as volleyball and basketball.

The campground offers tickets to Colonial Williamsburg and other historical sites including several plantations and the Powhatan Indian Village.

Williamsburg is also home to Busch Gardens and Water Country, which offers exhilarating fun on the water. There are also nature trails, a sports field, and minigolf.

Bethpage Camp Resort

The Bethpage Camp Resort is another spectacular camp with many activities to do. You can try your hand at volleyball or join a group for some horse riding. It is impossible not to have a good time. You can also relax in front of the beautiful views of the Rappahannock River.

Heavenly Acres Campgrounds

Stay in a camp surrounded by the Blue Ridge Mountains and enjoy a beautiful view of the mountains throughout the day. You can sit and listen to the wildlife and enjoy real outdoor adventures to give the whole family a sense of peace.

Shenandoah River Outfitters’ Camp Outback

If you plan to experience camping with just a tent and what is necessary, the Shenandoah River Outfitters’ Camp Outback fulfills this desire. Just a short distance from the Shenandoah River, you can sit and relax by a crackling fire and listen to the waters run wild.

Tents are available at Shenandoah River but you can also bring your own gear and tents too, of course. You can pitch your tents in places like this right by the water.

Only tents are allowed at the camps; therefore, everyone will enjoy an actual camping experience. Camp OutBack has 25 forested campsites under a canopy of hardwoods and white pines. Each site has a capacity for 10 campers and includes a picnic table, a charcoal grill, and a fire ring.

The camp borders the George Washington National Forest and has a walking path to the Shenandoah River (1/4 mile). It can lead to boat landings within a half to one and a half miles.

Camp OutBack is 10 miles from Luray and in the heart of the Shenandoah Valley, near Shenandoah National Park.

Facilities available include bathrooms, showers with hot water, firewood for sale, and a small camp tent in the Shenandoah River Outfitters that offers rental of canoes, kayaks, rafts, and tubes.

Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park

Virginia is a beautiful place to try your luck at camping, and another of the best places to enjoy a great camping trip in Virginia is Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park.

If you need the comforts of your home, this camp will provide you with all that. They have a lounge for viewing television and movies.

You can play tennis or volleyball but still take some time to relax by a warm fireplace at night. Yogi Bear’s Jellystone Park is recognized for its family atmosphere that is soothing and relaxing.

From cooling off in the water zone to extracting gems in the mining gate, there is something for everyone to enjoy. Family holidays will never be forgotten.

The park has ample spaces for camping in mobile homes with picnic tables, barbecue grills, laundry facilities, campfires, 30/50 amp service, water and sewage connections. A site store is also available, and there are rentals of rustic cabins and duplex buildings that can accommodate larger groups.
