Editors Pick – Bear Soles | The Warmest Choice This Winter

So, we published an article a bit earlier today about there’s not such thing as bad weather, only bad clothes. This got us thinking in Outdoor Revival HQ, so if we need to put aside the bad clothes we need to be on the lookout for ‘GOOD’ clothes so I figured that we might as well start at the bottom where our feet meet the ground, well, nearly.

So, there’re some new insoles coming onto the market soon, at the moment they’re part of a Kickstarter campaign called Bear Soles and the idea is that you’ll be warmer in the winter if you’ve got some decent insulation under your feet.

We’ve not tried them but we do have a lot of experience with footwear, clothing and being outdoors and they’re based on some sound principles and at $30 they’re well worth a look.

Here’s some more information from Honey Soles campaign to get Bear Soles out to the general public… Well, they’ve already exceeded their goal so it’s going ahead no matter what.

Bear Soles

The Problem

The sole of your foot has over 200,000 nerve endings in it, one of the highest concentrations anywhere in the body. And in the winter, the ground can be up to 10 degrees colder than air temperature.

The Solution

Adding a sheepskin layer to the bottom of your shoes works much like the insulation you may find in your home. Cold air is kept out. A microclimate is created around your skin that retains the body’s natural temperature. When designing Bear Soles, we made sure that no detail went unnoticed.

In addition to using the finest natural wool for warmth, we also focused on creating support and durability.

It’s made of natural, fine grain, Australian sheepskin. One of the softest and most indulgent available on the market today.

Natural anti-bacterial and anti-fungal – This material is able to naturally repel the growth of fungus and bacteria and promote a healthy environment in your shoes.

Temperature Regulating – Sheepskin is an amazing material with temperature regulating properties. This means that your feet will stay warm in cold weather and won’t overheat while indoors.

Sizing Chart

Bear Soles are full-length insoles that span 1.5 sizes per pair to accommodate variations in industry shoe sizes. You may need to trim your insoles to fit your footwear. We will collect all sizing info at the conclusion of the campaign. See our sizing below.
