Soho House, 1 Torstrasse, in Berlin, is a city within one building and boasts as chequered a history as any old building in Europe. The German edition of the famous Soho House brand is one of 18 clubs situated around the world.
They are in top destinations such as Istanbul, Toronto, New York, West Hollywood, Malibu, Chicago, London, and Barcelona. Soho House is a private members club designed to provide a meeting and living space for people working in the creative industries.
The building that houses the Soho House in Berlin was, in 1933, owned by the Reich Youth Leadership but now it is a meeting place for artists of every kind and from all spheres of the creative industry, including fine artists, sculptors, fashionistas, celebrities, and filmmakers.
1 Torstrasse is a Grade II listed building situated in the Mitte district of Berlin. It is centrally located near the Rosa Luxemburg Platz and Alexanderplatz stations and is a 45-minute ride from Schönefeld Airport. The club boasts four lofts, 20 apartments and around 65 bedrooms of varying sizes. Non-members pay $240 a night to stay at the club and have access to all the amenities.
This city in one building has all the amenities that one could want. Entering the reception, you are faced with a Damien Hirst original artwork, a stone with ‘Soho Haus Berlin’ spray-painted on it. A spiral staircase winds its way up and out of the reception, disappearing into the heart of the building whilst huge plush velvet sofas hug its feet.
The bedrooms are generously sized and feature extra-large beds, fitted with fine Egyptian cotton sheets. The bathrooms are sized to match, and a range of bathing cosmetics from the organic Cowshed range is available for use.
Before heading out on a sightseeing trip, browse The Store. This shopping experience located inside the building houses a record exchange, cafe, boutique catering to designer clothing, and a book shop.

The clientele is every bit as chic and well turned out as the premises, and rubbing shoulders with celebrities is not unknown. The menu rises to the occasion as well and is packed with authentic Italian dishes created from the freshest of ingredients.
After dinner, a short walk down to The Red Room will bring you to a decadent, alluring, underground cocktail bar and private cinema. The space buzzes after dark, and this throw-back to the 1930s is sure to provide hours of pleasure with such a wide variety of people with whom to chat or take in a film.
