The British Virgin Islands are an across the sea territory that belongs to Great Britain. The islands are a part of the Virgin Islands archipelago together with US Virgin Islands and the Spanish Virgin Islands. The 58 miles chain consists of many islands, including Tortola, Virgin Gorda, Anegada, and Yost Van Dyke.
The official name of the islands is the Virgin Islands, but the prefix British is often used to distinguish it from the neighboring areas. There are around 60 islands and many uninhabited islets that belong to the British Island group. The capital, Road Town, is settled on Tortola, which at 12 miles long is the largest island in the group.
The most interesting among the British Virgin Islands is Virgin Gorda because of its amazing volcanic rock formations. The Baths is the name of an area where you can see gigantic boulders forming natural pools and grottoes waiting to be explored. The Virgin Islands archipelago is very famous for its scenic beaches that attract high-class tourists, but there is nothing like The Baths.
The round shape of the boulders which sit on top of each other form these spectacular pools full of salt water. It makes it a perfect place for adventurers and people who are looking for something more than just a beautiful beach. The Baths is a beach area extremely famous among visitors. It is one of the main attractions in the British Virgin Islands. The volcanic boulders that form the tidal pools are about 40 feet long and offer a unique experience for everybody who visits.
You can walk between the arches and tunnels, and try swimming in one of these natural bathtubs. An interesting thing about these pools is that they are open to the sea, so while swimming in the tunnel you can also enjoy the magnificent view of the Caribbean.
The rest of Virgin Gorda is full of golden sand beaches where you can spend your vacation without thinking about the noisy city life. But lots of tourists make these islands virgin no more. All the Earth’s beauties can’t stay untouched and unfortunately, start getting destroyed little by little. That’s why is very important to be a conscious traveler without making any damage.
