Waterfalls are one of the most incredible sights of nature. No matter where they are located, waterfalls inspire awe. Here are some of the most amazing waterfalls in the world.
The Plitvice Falls are not the highest falls in the world by a long shot, but you are going to be amazed by the color of the water. The crystal clear water is a brilliant turquoise color that falls over the cascades.
The ultimate paradise, Kaieteur Falls is 741 feet high before it hits the steep cascades below. The falls are located literally in the middle of nowhere, attracting tourists looking for a more hidden treasure away from the crowds.
Without a doubt the best-known waterfall in North America, if not the world, Niagara Falls is on the border between the United States and Canada. The Horseshoe Falls on the Canadian side is taller with a 173 feet drop, while the American Falls on the United States side only have a 70 to 100 feet drop.
The highest waterfall in the world, Angel Falls has a fall of 3,212 feet. It is protected by UNESCO and very tricky to get to, but the view is unlike any other.
Translated it means “Golden Falls” and they are right with that description. The falls are only 68 feet tall, but the layout is incredible. Standing over the walls, it looks like the Hvítá River disappears into the Earth rather than the crevice that is there. You will have to step to the edge to be able to see where the waterfall goes next.
One of the tallest waterfalls in the world, the Sutherland Falls have an impressive three cascades. The drop is 1902 feet. Combined with the one-of-a-kind landscape, the falls are a sight to behold.
With a 984 foot drop, the Staubbach Falls are impressive to behold. The falls are different than other places in the world as the falls turn to mist by the time they reach the bottom. In fact, “Staub” means “dust” in German. The mist is where the falls originally got their name.
Just like Niagara marks the border between the United States and Canada, the Ban Gioc-Detian marks the border between China and Vietnam. The falls are unique and appear to be multiple falls, until the river rises and they meld back into one.
Situated along the picturesque Columbia River Gorge, the Multnomah Falls are a local icon. The area is rich in hiking opportunities, including a hike right up to the top of the falls themselves. Crossing the legendary bridge will give you a good spray in the face as well.
One of the best-known waterfalls in the country of Iceland, Seljalandsfoss is only about 196 feet tall. The waterfall is unique though due to the fact that you can actually walk to the inside of the waterfall and look out at the world from behind it. The perspective is something that you simply won’t find anywhere else.
Thankfully our world is rich in amazing waterfalls and you should have ample opportunity to enjoy one. No matter where you are, a waterfall can give you peace of mind and show you a world beyond the hustle and bustle.
