The diverse and rich history means that Europe has an incredible array of destinations that are brimming with a magical fairytale charm. With magnificent castles, picturesque woodlands, beautiful towns in beautiful surroundings, there is something for every traveler. Here is a list of some of the most amazing destinations in Europe you can visit this winter.

This 19th-century Bavarian castle is the ultimate go-to destination for history fans and Disney lovers. The castle, located at the foot of the Alps, is known as the inspiration for Disney’s Cinderella castle in Disney World. During winter, when snow surrounds it, the castle is the most picturesque and breathtaking in the world.

The Giant’s Causeway is located in Northern Ireland, and it’s actually a stretch of coastline. Battling with the wild sea, the shore is full of hexagonal columns, which formed naturally from volcanic activity throughout the years. When there you can experience the amazing and mythical scenery. According to the local legend, the hexagonal columns were built by an Irish giant, Finn MacCool.

Mostar is full of cobblestone streets, historic buildings, and has an incredibly clear and blue river running through it. At first sight, the town looks like it came from the imagination of brothers Grimm. The Stari Most bridge is the architectural centerpiece, connecting the town divided by the Neretva river.

Regarded as the cultural center of Russia, this city is full of historic landmarks, museums, and astonishing churches. One of the most famous sights is the iconic Resurrection of Christ church, with its fairytale-like decoration.

This eccentric and incredible town is located in the northeastern France, right on the border with Germany. The half-timbered Renaissance buildings, medieval streets and charming cobbled roads, make this town look like Belle’s village from “Beauty and the beast.” In the center of the town, on the Place de la Cathédrale, stands an astounding 13th-century Gothic church.

Best known for the historic old town surrounded by giant 80-foot stone walls, this place is the pearl of the Adriatic sea. Walking the circuit around the city walls, you’ll be able to see the rage of well-preserved buildings, palaces, plazas, and baroque churches.

With over 600 castles, Wales is the perfect winter destination for those who love history and seek amazing landscapes. The Castell Coch is one of the most romantic and fairytale-like castles around. Built in the 19th century, this charming castle is located above the Tongwynlais village in South Wales.
