A guide through the wonders of New England

For all of you who like to travel the heart of the American northeast, New England is the right place. This stunning part of the country offers everything from surfing in the Atlantic to hiking the woods of Berkshires.

The Northeast provides adventure spots for an amazing experience. If this area is a part of the country that you don’t know much about, then now’s the time to get in your car and do a New England road trip.

Acadia National Park

This 47,000-acre, jaw-dropping piece of the Northeast is a microcosm in itself. Trek through deep forests, climb mountains, explore the glassy lakes, or visit the jagged Maine coastline are just some of the activities you and your friend can enjoy this summer.

There are 17 stone-faced bridges across the park going over springs, rivers and along cliffs and waterfalls. If you have the chance, don’t miss Acadia’s only sandy beach, called Sand Beach. For peregrine falcon observation, go to the Echo Lake Beach but be aware of a black bear that can surprise you on the way.

Plum Island

Plum Island is a barrier island on the northeast coast of Massachusetts. The name of the island comes from the wild beach plum bushes that grow here.

The beach on Plum Island is a gentle slope that doesn’t allow the sea to spread horizontally. The slope produces small breakers, close to the shore. During severe sea storms, the breakers hit the dune line, which can cause a number of shipwrecks that get stuck in Plum Island Beach.

The Casco Bay Islands

Off the coast of Portland, Maine, there is a group of islands famous for the variety of activities you can do and visit there. Only a 20-minute ride from Portland lies the Peaks Island where you can enjoy the sandy beaches, nice little restaurants, and artist communities.

If you’re looking for a biking adventure, then hit the dirt roads of Cliff Island. Chebeague Island is perfect for golf lovers, while on Great Diamond Island you can visit the site of Fort McKinley. There is a ferry that takes visitors on an island tour along the Portland’s stretch of the Atlantic Coast.

Mystic Seaport

Mystic Seaport is the largest maritime museum in the United States, also known as the Museum of America and the Sea in Mystic, Connecticut. By visiting this place, you’ll go back in the time when wooden-hulled boats carried men in the sea. The village is famous for its notable collection of ships and boats, as well as for the reconstruction of the 19th-century lifestyle.

You can take a carriage ride through the village and explore the authentic 1800s-era New England coast.

New England offers fun for everyone. Depending on your traveling preferences, in the American Northeast, you can find everything the adventurer in you could want. Decide which route you’ll take and enjoy your New England summer! Good luck!
