Packing tips that will change the way you travel
It’s a vacation time and your body knows it! As much as it gives you joy, there is a part of the process that you just hate, packing! Who wants to pack, I know I just want to get going.
It can be tiring to pack for a long trip, especially if you lack organization skills. Ending up with a suitcase full of things you probably don’t need is not something you want.
Before packing you need to make a plan and eliminate everything you think isn’t necessary, there are always things that we want to take that we don’t even use it at home, let alone while we’re traveling.
So, think twice before packing five pairs of shoes that you don’t need and limit the weight because, in the end, you have to carry it around.
Roll your clothes, instead of folding them
By tightly rolling your clothes you’ll save a lot of space in your backpack or suitcase. Rolling is more practical and more organized. Keep the folding for fabrics that wrinkle easily, but when traveling try to bring clothes that don’t need ironing or look fine if they’re a bit creased.
Pack more tops than bottoms
To save some extra space pack two tops for each bottom. You don’t want to carry too many pairs of jeans that look similar. So, to avoid wearing the same clothes, pack more tops than bottoms. For example, for one pair of jeans, you can pack a sweater and two T-shirts. This way you’ll always look different without carrying an excessive number of pants.
Fold inside out
If you need to fold some pieces of your wardrobe, then do it inside out. This way your white and pastel clothes will be safe from stains and some of the wrinkles.
Fill your shoes with small items
You’ll love this one! To save even more space, fill your shoes with gadgets like cables, jewelry, makeup or small pieces of clothing. You’ll be surprised how many things can fit inside your shoes. Saving space is very important, so do it any way possible.
Put breakables in socks
You don’t want to break the bottle of your favorite perfume right? Placing breakable bottles in socks is a genius solution that will keep your bottles safe. You can always decant your perfume or other liquids into plastic bottles making things even safer and easier to pack.
Bring small packages of hygienic items
Pour your favorite shampoo in a small bottle. You don’t want to end up carrying huge containers that you will never use and will just add extra weight to your luggage. If it’s in a container over 100ml make sure that it’s packed in hold luggage when you fly, if it’s in your carry on they will take it at security.
Buy a light weight suitcase
Hardshell suitcases are not a good choice if you travel alone because they are heavy and occupy too much space. What you need is a light weighted backpack or a suitcase that is easy to carry.
Fold a shirt and put it inside a hat
You don’t want your favorite hat squished. Put a shirt inside it and it will be like new when you arrive at your destination. Pack the hat and then pack around the hat to keep it protected.
Put your toiletries in a transparent bag
Keep all your cosmetics visible to avoid making a mess in your suitcase while looking for your toothbrush. You’ll see all your toiletries in one place and easy to reach. Make sure that the bag seals so that if there is a spill it’s contained.
Follow these packing tips and share them with your friends and family. Knowing how to pack smart will change your life forever. No more heavy suitcases full of things you don’t need.
Being practical is what will make the way you travel easier and more organized. The only thing you have to do now is to choose the next destination. Safe travels!
