Learn the local language

Every time you make an effort to speak the local language people will appreciate it and be happy to help you with everything you need. Also, they will try to say some words in your language as a sign of gratitude and mutual respect.

Don’t forget to smile

A smiling face is your ticket to successful travel. If you smile you open yourself to a lot of conversations and it means you are friendly and kind.

Go to local restaurants and coffee shops

You have better chances to meet someone new and start talking if you sit at a big shared table. Local people are always interested in meeting foreigners and learning about new cultures.

Take day tours

Day tours are a very nice way to explore the new environment and also to meet interesting people. The fact someone took the same tour, means you have common interests. Don’t lose the opportunity to make a new friend and maybe share a meal or go for a drink.

Ask questions

Be curious and ask questions. It will help you develop your language skills and get accepted in new surroundings.

Walk around

There is no better way to get to know a city and understand its culture than walking. Moving by foot in a new city can be fun because you never know what’s hiding around the next corner. Being alone gives you independence and opportunity to go wherever you want.

Local transport

Local transit

Make sure you check local transport before your travel. Learn how the system works, costs and safety.

Travel between destinations

Being alone means you have to carry all your luggage by yourself, so don’t carry more than a backpack that you can handle. It’s good to move around as easily as possible.

Travel alone

If you travel alone and want to go out at night, don’t be paranoid and think you’ll be kidnaped, just be careful and follow these simple tips. Plan your transportation wisely, be sure it’s safe, stay sober, tell the hotel staff where are you going, and don’t carry any valuables.

Also, don’t forget to enjoy your solo trip and have the greatest fun ever.
